Harker displays youth in win over University Prep

November 22, 2018

A trio of freshmen started their high school careers in style on Wednesday night, leading Harker past University Prep, 65-24, in the season opener for both schools.

Freshman Alexa Lowe had a game-high 14 points for the Eagles, and added four rebounds in the win. Harker (1-0) did not allow more than single digits in any quarter from the visiting Golden Eagles, and led 37-12 at halftime.

Junior Sara Lynn Sullivan was the other player in double figures, as she chipped in 10 points, while freshmen Brooklyn Cicero and Gianna Chan had eight points each on a night where the underclassmen showed the bright future of the Harker program. Chan drilled both of her three-point attempts, while Cicero added three steals defensively.

Senior Akhila Ramgiri and junior Haley Arena had four assists each as the Eagles distributed the production during the opening game.

Harker heads down to Pescadero next week for a tournament, facing Averroes-Fremont next Thursday, while University Prep (0-1) heads to Basis Independent Silicon Valley next Tuesday for a non-league game.
