Sophomore Kevin Alarcon's three first half touchdown passes helped lift Menlo past Woodside on Friday afternoon, as the host Knights rolled to the 51-6 victory.
Alarcon connected twice with David Schmaier in the first half, and once with Kevin Chen, as Menlo pulled away to score the final 44 points in the game. Alarcon's 70-yard touchdown pass to Chen with 1:20 left in the first half staked the Knights to a 35-6 lead at the half. Dillon Grady also ran for two first-half touchdowns.
The Menlo defense made its presence felt in the second half, beginning with Cooper Stewart's sack for a safety, which made the score 37-6 midway through the third quarter. Another connection between Alarcon and Schmaier set up a one-yard touchdown run for Jake Shiff, with 4:26 left in the third quarter.
The Knights (5-2, 3-0 PAL-Ocean) closed the scoring in the fourth with a defensive touchdown, when Silas Stewart scored on a fumble recovery with 42 seconds left in the third quarter.
Alarcon finished the game 8-of-15 passing for 162 yards and three touchdowns, while Grady added 116 yards and two rushing touchdowns on just eight carries.
Menlo carries a three-game winning streak into next week's game at Hillsdale, which will be for the Ocean Division lead. Woodside (0-7, 0-3) plays at Sequoia next week.
