SAN JOSE - Senior Andrew Meggs enjoyed a five-RBI day at the plate, and Dominic Flocchini allowed one earned run in six and one-third innings for a 7-3 win over Willow Glen on Thursday afternoon.
The Chargers (14-5-2, 7-2 BVAL-MH) scored six runs in the first three innings to take a commanding early lead against the Rams. Meggs went 3-for-4 during the game, including a home run, while senior Chris Kim added a pair of hits, part of an 11-hit attack for Leland. Junior Anthony Sortino scored three times, while Ryan McCahan and Justin Kuhns each added a double.
Power-hitting catcher Albert Hsiao was quiet at the plate, going 1-for-4, but threw out the only Ram runner who attempted to steal a base.
Leland has a pair of games with Santa Teresa next week, while Willow Glen (18-4, 8-2) has a non-league game at Burlingame on Saturday before a pair of games with Leigh next week.
Willow Glen had beaten Leland, 12-3, in Tuesday's game. The Rams have a half-game lead on Leland and Leigh in the Mt. Hamilton Division.
