For the second consecutive day, Notre Dame-Belmont (5-7) was unable to pull off a victory, dropping a 3-2 thriller at home against Notre Dame-San Jose. And this loss will turn out to be much tougher to swallow.
After a 6-0 run by NDSJ sealed the Tigers' fate in Game 1, 5-0 runs of their own resulted in a victories in Games 2 (25-18) and 3 (25-17). Game 4 was characterized by four lead changes in which NDB lost 25-19. NDSJ had the lead for all but one serve in the fifth and final game, winning 15-11.
Lauren Berriatua (11 kills) and Tracy McDonald (9 kills) led the Notre Dame-Belmont attack, while Maria Santana (32 digs) anchored the defense. Santana also had 3 aces, as did Bailee Roces.
