Cardinal Newman edges Maria Carrillo in 10

SANTA ROSA, CA - In a typical battle between crosstown rivals, Cardinal Newman edged Maria Carrillo, 5-4 in 10 innings in the first round of the North Bay League baseball playoffs.

Cardinal Newman won the game on a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the 10th drawn by junior Colin Imm, who finished 3-for-5 with three RBIs.

Starting pitcher Connor Foster went 5 2/3 innings for the Cardinals, allowing just four hits and no earned runs. Andrew Vaughn went five innings for Maria Carrillo, allowing just four hits and two earned runs, with nine strikeouts.

Vaughn also went 3-for-5 at the plate with a double and Gunner Flanders went 2-for-3.
