A pair of second half goals from freshman Allie Montoya kept Mountain View unbeaten this season, as the Spartans edged host Carlmont, 2-1, in a non-league girls' soccer game.
Montoya received assists from senior Sydney Arrillaga and junior Janvi Subramanyan in the second half, allowing Mountain View to snap the Scots' three-game win streak. Freshman Sophia Sasaki also registered three saves in goal, as the Spartans improved to 6-0 for the year.
Carlmont fell to 4-3 with the close loss, after having beaten Hillsdale, Notre Dame-Belmont and Santa Cruz in its past three matches. The goal scored by the Scots was just the second goal allowed this season by the Mountain View side. Carlmont will look to bounce back on Saturday at the Firebird Classic, facing Palo Alto.
Mountain View will look for its seventh straight win to open the season on Saturday, when it faces Saint Francis in the championship game of the Firebird Classic at Fremont.
