VACAVILLE, CA - With Napa and Wood both coming off their bye week, it was the defenses that prevailed as the host Wildcats came away with a 10-7 overtime victory Friday night.
The Indians (2-4 overall, 0-1 Monticello Empire League) got the only score of the first half when sophomore quarterback Isaiah Newton found Alex Perez De Leon with 7:48 to go in the second quarter. The drive was set up by a Wood fumble.
In the second half, the Wildcats (3-3, 1-0) found the scoreboard with 6:25 to go in the third quarter, when Derriyon Jack scored on a 20-yard run.
The game was tied at the end of regulation. In overtime, Austin Clark kicked a 21-yard field goal to win it for Wood.
Both teams will continue league play next Friday at 7:30 pm. Wood will travel to nearby Fairfield to face Armijo, while Napa will host Rodriguez.
