SAN JOSE, CA - Junior Grace Smith scored 34 points, leading Live Oak to a 66-54 win at Leland on Thursday night, in BVAL-South girls basketball action.
Smith's big night was crucial for the Acorns, who evened their league record with the upset win over the Chargers (13-9, 8-4). The 5-foot-7 guard was dominant in all facets of the game, getting to the free throw line for 20 attempts, and hauling down 14 rebounds to go with the 34-point effort, to go with five steals and four blocks. Live Oak (10-12, 6-6) pulled away in the second half after holding a two-point edge after the first two quarters.
Junior Cameron O'Connell also had a night for the Acorns, with 18 points on 7-of-14 shooting, including two three-pointers. Freshman Adrianne Gomez added seven points, while sophomore Madison Sharble pulled down 11 rebounds.
