Sacred Heart Cathedral rallied for three runs in the top of the seventh inning to defeat host Presentation, 3-2, in a West Catholic Athletic League softball game Friday afternoon. With the win, the Fightin' Irish improve to 10-9 overall, 3-3 in the WCAL; the Panthers fall to 11-8, 3-2.
Trailing 1-0 heading into the top of the seventh, the Irish benefited from three errors to take a 3-1 lead. Junior Julia Gallegos started the rally with a walk. The next two batters were retired before junior Becca Gisslow reached on the first of three consecutive errors, bringing in all three runs.
Presentation came back with a run of its own on an RBI double by shortstop Grace Hargadon, but she was thrown out trying to stretch it into a triple.
The Panthers look to bounce back with a trip to St. Francis Tuesday afternoon. Sacred Heart Cathedral visits City rival St. Ignatius Tuesday afternoon. First pitch for both games is 3:30 pm.
