Lowell broke open a close game with six runs in the fourth inning on the way to a 9-2 win over host Hillsdale in a non-league baseball game Tuesday afternoon. Following a loss to El Camino on Wednesday, the Knights have dropped four games and a row and have fallen to 9-7 overall. Lowell is now 17-4 after a win over Sacred Heart Prep Saturday.
Leading just 1-0, the Cardinals erupted in the fourth inning. Senior right fielder Andy Glickfield (2-for-4, 4 RBIs) had the huge blow, a three-run home run to left field. Senior Jake Simons (3-for-4, 2 runs, 2 RBIs) also contributed heavily to the 11-hit attack.
Senior Elijah Saunders (3-0) picked up the win with three strong innings, allowing just one hit and no runs, striking out seven. Hillsdale scored two runs in the seventh off relief pitcher Aaron Leong, who picked up his first save.
Hillsdale tries to get back on track with a home game Wednesday afternoon (4 pm) against Capuchino. Next up for Lowell is a home game against Marshall Monday afternoon (3:30 pm).
