Sophomore Brenda Cruz paced a 15-hit attack as the Milpitas softball team downed host Lynbrook, 10-6, Friday afternoon in a Santa Clara Valley Athletic League El Camino Division contest. The win enabled the Trojans (5-0 SCVAL-EC) to keep pace atop the division with Saratoga. The loss dropped Lynbrook to 1-6 overall, 0-5 in the SCVAL-EC.
Cruz went 3-for-4 with 2 RBIs as Milpitas recovered from an early 2-0 deficit with 10 unanswered runs to seize control of the game. The Trojans erupted for six runs in the fourth inning to put the game out of reach.
Juniors Rachel Norman and Tiana Teixeria each contributed two hits and two RBIs while junior Jalaena Bumagat and freshman Gwyneth Savella-Dye pitched in with two hits apiece. Bumagat (3-3) also picked up the win with four solid innings of pitching, allowing just two earned runs.
