Behind the strong pitching of senior righthander Brian Ransom, the Christopher baseball team defeated visiting Salinas, 6-0, Friday afternoon in a Monterey Bay League Gabilan Division game. The win improved the Cougars' record to 3-7-1 overall, 2-5 in the MBL-Gab; the Cowboys dropped to 5-6, 4-3.
Salinas was held to just six hits overall - three by sophomore catcher Cole Mallett. Christopher got on the board with a run in the second and then added two runs each in the fourth and sixth to put the game out of reach. Shortstop Brennan Wilson and third baseman Tyler Fhurong were in the middle of both rallies, scoring two runs apiece for the Cougars.
Ransom went the distance to pick up the win for Christopher, which hosts El Dorado in non-league action Wednesday afternoon. Salinas travels to Anaheim to participate in the Anaheim Lions Tournament starting on Saturday.
