Courtney Danna led a balanced attack with 12 points as Presentation overcame a slow start to defeat visiting Notre Dame-Belmont, 59-31, Friday night in WCAL play. The win was the second in a row for the Panthers (8-8, 2-2); the Tigers (6-8, 0-3) are still looking for their first league win.
Sophomore Maeve Kavanaugh added 11 points and nine rebounds for Presentation, which was down 12-8 at the end of the first quarter before taking control. Freshman Ashley Marquez scored nine points and junior Debra Simontacchi and senior Jeanelle Schneider pitched in with eight points apiece for the Panthers.
Junior guard Becka Grigg led Notre Dame-Belmont with seven points and freshman Justine DeLeon added six.
The Tigers host top-ranked Archbishop Mitty Saturday night in their third game in three nights. Presentation next plays at fourth-ranked St. Francis Thursday night.
