  • Mitty rallies to steam into semifinals

    The host Mitty Monarchs were in for a shock Saturday night when the Newark Memorial Cougars ran up a large first-quarter lead and point guard Joey Frenchwood seemed to be on fire from behind the arc. But the Monarchs came back to defeat the Cougars, 63-51 in a NorCal Regional opening-round game, after moving at a slower offensive tempo and playing tighter defense. ...Read more

  • Gordon drives Mitty to a fourth CCS title

    Aaron Gordon led his team to a Central Coast Championship in all four of his years as the Mitty Monarchs defeated the Serra Padres, 55-46, in front of a packed house at Leavey Center on the campus of Santa Clara University. It was a game of runs and choppy play on both sides, but Gordon stayed consistent the entire game, finishing with 24 points, 23 rebounds, eight assists, four blocks and a steal. ...Read more

    Mitty rallies late to tip Soquel

    Although the Mitty Monarchs (23-5) trailed the Soquel Knights (20-7) until there was a minute left in regulation, they put up a strong final rally to win the game, 59-57. Mitty all-star Aaron Gordon served as the backbone and driving force behind his team, managing 27 points, five blocks and two dunks. No other Monarchs scored more than nine points, while Soquel had four sharpshooters that scored in double digits. Soquel also had 12 3-pointers compared to Mitty’s two. ...Read more
